Freestyle writing

Beyond the glass window a storm rages outside. It’s rain pounding the ground like people at a parade. The flowers outside are violently tossed around by the volatile winds. So much for April showers bring May flowers. As the door to the library swung open the first explosive thunder bang was heard, a sound that caused the window panes to rattle. As a figure walked outside the rain started to slant and it looked like hail. The figure walked calmly out from under the inviting walkway roof and across the parking lot. As another clap of thunder sounded the figure looked up at the sky momentarily before continuing on. As the figure reached the car he pulled back his hood and stepped into the car. I got into the car soaking but happy.

   Love at First Sight
An Essay about Building Love
Jordan Crawford
April 20, 2011
English A
Love is often described as a tricky part of life in all those movies.  In life I think love can be a hard thing but it is not nearly as hard as the movies make it seem love we don’t need to save the world.  A majority of the time people may think that the action movie heroes fall into love but usually this is not the case since the relationships build over the course of the movie. I can relate this kind of love to my aunt and uncle who have been together for a long time. I think love is a wonderful part of life.
In some movies the hero or heroine seemingly falls in love with a person over the course of the movie, but actually they are building the relationship along the course of the movie, like I will do in my lifetime. Though in the movies “falling” in love seems like a canvas painting, a scene that seems so real and possible, in real life I wouldn’t “fall” in love. When some one falls in love it can be a roller coaster, a ride I don’t want to sign up for and can lead to a dizzying crash. As some people have come to realize that a relationship that you fall into may result into you realizing that you have nothing in common with your so called love. In some cases building a relationship can be troublesome but before you can first start you must find some one who you like and in that case finding and building are related. In order to build a relationship you must first unearth what your partner’s likes and dislikes are. I know I don’t like someone just by walking by them because we might have nothing in common. When I am older I know how I will “find the one for me” by finding someone then building our relation to a content state.
Life would not go one without love and I know many couples that are high spirited when together. Though I know many of these types of joyful relationships, a relation that both people are really compassionate towards each other but one really stands out in my mind as an amorous relationship, and that would be my aunt and my uncle. To start things off my uncle works really late into the ever growing night and my aunt makes dinner for the two of them and waits until he arrives home. Though this may not seem very significant in a relation it is actually very important because it shows that no matter how many times she see him she still loves him. The dinner table is a tremendously big part of my aunt and uncles relationship. At the dinner table my uncle always keeps the mood in a happy state with his unique and funny jokes. For my aunt and uncle meal time is a social part of their relationship.  On the whole the best bond is when there is a lot of collective talking and communication.
In a relationship love is essential and it all matters how the person expresses that love. It doesn’t matter if this is by making a joke or buying each other flowers or anything else. It just matters how you build that relationship into something magnificent. So next time you love someone make sure to express it in any way you can.

A writing issue I see in my writing is the lack of unique and well put transitions.
I think the strongest point in my writing would be my bell words
I still need to find interesting transitions and that would be my weak point
I would give myself a B.

The Friendship Vase
An Essay about Friendships and Vases

Jordan Crawford
English 8A

Having friendships is magnificent percentage of life and everyone has at least one indestructible friendship, that when you are together like you are in wonderland. Sometimes friendships start because two people have so much in common, or it is because they exchange information or just listen to each other. Either way friendships are a part of human life. It has become a necessity of our daily lives.
When you look at a vase filled with flowers the last thing that would come to mind would be how it is like a friendship; something I have with a fun-loving teen named Joseph. My comradeship with Joseph began a long time ago, when I was just two years old. From being two to ten years old our journey as buddies was one to be recorded, but could not be put down into an orderly format. Even today we still manage to see each other but we do not need to see each other to have fun all the time just like how a flower doesn’t need the vase to look beautiful. From the time we were young, we realized we had the same liking such as Batman: The Animated Series. We both take turns talking and we do not overwhelm one or another when we are talking to each other. We take turns being in the spotlight but understand when it is input or output time. As a great deal of people know some friendships, over time diminish and soon there is little or no friendship between them, but this is not the case for us and we have never grown apart.  This is unlike a vase, an object that can break or grow too small for the plant that is in that way unlike our friendship. Even thought there is a slight age difference and we like different things at times we manage to maintain our friendship. Over the years our friendship has been tested such as when Joseph graduated ninth grade and went on to high school, but we will always be the closest of friends.
My friendship with Joseph has never deteriorated over time and is one of my many friendships. At school all my classmates have become close friends and I will be upset when next year comes and many are not around. I will make new friends over time as will anyone, but you have to remember not to outgrow your vase.
