Assessment

I made my first Assessment visit today and at first it was looking pretty grim. There were no kids around to play with. This did not deter me as I set up shop on a table armed with Chutes and Ladders and Widgets. After introducing myself to Ms. Sue, a lady who had dark sparkling hair and a permanent smile, I sat down at the table and waited. After a few minutes of sculpting by myself with the Widgets a small girl came walking in. The girl, who could not have been more then six, walked nervously to my table. I introduced myself to her and helped her into her chair. Immediately she started to smile with baby teeth that sparkled in the light. She then said her name was Isabella and we started to make sculptures. Her dark hair turned and flopped as she twisted he head as she recited a vivid tale of how she never had anyone to play with at her house and she loved to play Chutes and Ladders. After she made a magnificent sculpture I was so mad I couldn’t take it’s picture for my phone had died. We then together put the pieces back in the box and proceeded to play Chutes and Ladders in which she got every ladder until a young woman came. As it turned out this was her sister and shyly my little friend waved goodbye and skipped out hair creating a saucer around her head. Later a family came and a boy with wrap around glasses came he played, but then quickly left. Another two boys and their sister came and I watched them play with chess pieces as their two year old played with the Widgets. After the toddler was carried away screaming I decided to leave but first I helped clean a fish tank. This is going to be a fun volunteer job.
